I love the 80's, but i dont know
anything about them, except of course for what ive picked up from GTA
Vice City. But that only sparked a desire to learn more so over the
next little while ive decided im going to just delve into the 80's
era as much as possible and try to experience everything about it
that sets me off. The movies, the music, the clothes, the culture,
the cosbys, everything.
First things first. The movies. So
far, i havent seen too many from this era but i think its because
trying to watch the Breakfast Club at a very young age left me under
the impression that all movies from this time period are full of
weird hairstyles and montages and stories about coming of age... and
they are come to think of it, and this isnt to say thats a bad thing
at all, i just wasnt at an age to come....
Awkward wording aside, i eventually
watched a bunch of shitty action movies like commando and rambo and
immediatly found something unique about the movies that were coming
out back then.
I think it can be summed up by just
saying: They put thought in the right places. The coming of age
movies are inspired and speak to the spiratic, irrational impulses of
teenagers who are still finding themselves while the action movies
were written by guys who spent too much time at the gym and took
script ideas from their kids. It was perfect. Screw these new movies.
Theres nothing good out anyways. Im going to go back and watch what i
missed.
Whats first on the list? Im thinking
Sixteen Candles, Risky Business, a revisit to Breakfast Club, Pretty
in Pink, you know, all the other movies ive only ever heard about but
never actually seen. Strap on your ankle warmers...im going in...
